Cable Factory - the party place

Venue

The party place is the Cable factory in Helsinki, Finland. It is a former Nokia cable factory (closed in 1987) and the building is home to many art projects, companies and culture events. Our event is located in the Merikaapelihalli, which is the largest hall in the building and often used for large-scale fairs and techno parties. It used to be the hall where the largest heavy duty cables were manufactured. In other parts of the building, Nokia developed and tested for decades what would become their main product - the mobile phones.

In old party tradition we have a PA system which can be described as 'sufficient', a big screen and a top quality video projector. Some other features of the place:

  • Capacity for at least 1000 people - including 150+ computer places (for a computer place buy a royal society ticket + bring your own extension cord & Ethernet cable).
  • A designated area for old and new game consoles. For sharing TV's, peripherals etc. ("Pelulamu area").
  • LAN and WLAN network connections.
  • Many restaurants nearby for a variety of tastes.
  • Friendly security staff with a demoscene background.
  • A computer exhibition and an art exhibition
  • A sleeping area.
  • Sofas.
  • A quiet area for coding.
  • Showers available.
  • We accept cash, Finnish debit cards (pankkikortti), VISA, VISA Electron, MasterCard and Maestro.

The main entrance is located at the inner yard of the Cable Factory. Open 24h/day during the party.
Address: Cable Factory, Tallberginkatu 1 D, Helsinki.

If arriving by car: please drop off at Tallberginkatu 1 and use the tunnel to reach the main entrance.

Disabled: please contact the staff at the main entrance if the door to the elevator is closed at the main entrance.

  • By foot: The Cable Factory is in walking distance from nearby hotels.
  • Metro: Ruoholahti metro station is about 800 m from the party place.
  • Tram: Tram 8 stops 400 m from the party place.
  • Bus: Busses 20 and 15 come near.
  • Own car: Cable factory is surrounded by a parking place which is free of charge after 19:00 on Friday and during weekends.
  • Taxi: Taxi from the Central Railway Station costs ca. 15 €.
